Elo TouchSystems Touchscreens Deliver Tough and Hard Wearing Solution for Self-Service Ticketing Kiosks
Leading designer and builder of self-service ticketing kiosks, Shere, is using Elo TouchSystems' touch technology in its latest systems to provide end customers with a user friendly experience when purchasing travel tickets at numerous key sites around the UK.
Shere is the UK's number one supplier of self-service unattended kiosks for the purchase of travel tickets and has over 230 kiosk installations in rail, boat and air terminals throughout the UK. The company's latest generation of self-service ticketing systems is designed to meet a comprehensive range of train and travel operator requirements including same day ticket sales, ticket collection for pre-booked transactions and printing of both ATB and credit card sized tickets.
Shere's systems are based around Elo's proven touchscreen technology with user-friendly graphical user interfaces ensuring a positive experience for end users. Kiosks are used extensively throughout the UK rail network with most major operators using Shere systems. These include Anglia Railways, Connex, First Great Western, First Great Eastern, GNER, Midland Mainline, Stansted Express, Virgin Trains and WAGN.
Peter Sutton, Shere's Installation & Maintenance Manager, commented, "Since Shere started producing systems with touchscreen interfaces, we have always used Elo touchscreens as they meet our exacting requirements for reliability and durability. Our units need to be customer friendly and reliable in day-to-day use and the Elo touchscreen delivers these attributes. The touchscreen is essential to the success of our systems as we cannot afford to have a sub-standard component at the key end-user interface. They also need to be tough and hard wearing over the working life of the systems and, although we have tried alternative touchscreens, we have been unable to find anything else on the market that meets with our requirements."
He continued, "Our experience with Elo TouchSystems' touchscreen technology has been so positive that we are currently evaluating desktop units for use in trials of a new system."
Shere systems are based around Elo TouchSystems SecureTouch vandal resistant technology which use surface wave technology and pure glass touchscreens for superior image clarity, resolution and light transmission. Elo's SecureTouch touchscreens are the preferred touchscreen solution for high-threat environments and indoor applications demanding rugged durability. SecureTouch touchscreens deliver high impact resistance with a durable screen manufactured from fully tempered heat or chemically strengthened glass that continues to work even if scratched. With its stable drift-free operation, the SecureTouch touchscreens are well suited for the high usage environments in which Shere ticketing machines are used. Providing a touch response that is accurate whether operated by finger, gloved hand or soft stylus, SecureTouch touchscreens are the ideal touch solution for kiosks in high-threat environments, ticketing machines, interactive pay phones and gaming machines.
