Identifying Your Touch Technology
If you are not sure
what technology your touchscreen uses, here are some guidelines:
- If you see or
feel a grid pattern of dots (on approximately 3/16 inch centers), then
it is AccuTouch. The dots are not easy to detect! Turn the monitor
off, then look at the screen at different angles using various
lighting sources; it may help to turn the screen up toward fluorescent
lights. You may be able to feel the dots if you run your fingernails
gently over the screen.
- If you see fine
angled lines around the edges of the bezel opening, then it is IntelliTouch. These are usually not visible.
- If there is a
black bezel with a deep purple tint, or if you see a series of LEDs
(light emitting diodes) around the edge of the bezel opening, then it
is CarrollTouch.
You can identify your touchmonitor by the model description, which you can find on the data label near the power and video connections. For example, a model number ET1725L-8SWA-1 is IntelliTouch, denoted by the code 8 after the first dash. All touchmonitors follow this same logic. The codes are:
- 0 = no touch
- 2 = projected capacitive
- 3 = surface capacitive
- 4 = iTouch
- 6 = SecureTouch
- 7 = AccuTouch
- 8 = IntelliTouch
- 9 = CarrollTouch (IR or infrared)
- A = Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR)
