Deep Video Imaging
New Zealand-based Deep Video Imaging (DVI) has designed a computer screen that shows true depth of field images without requiring the viewer to use 3-D glasses, tracking devices or fixed positioning.
DVI's ActualDepthT display is two LCDs combined with a proprietary process that creates a realistic 3-D viewing angle. DVI has now combined ActualDepth with the pressure-sensitive Z-axis that only Elo's IntelliTouch can provide, to produce a touchscreen that changes depth of field at a touch or a tap of the finger.
Applications for ActualDepth with IntelliTouch range from gaming to military markets.
- Air traffic controllers will be able to access much more information through this advanced computer monitor compared with 2-D displays. They can layer radar and/or weather information on top of the runway schematics.
- Financial analysts can have access to greater data visualization and interaction through true touch support for simultaneous multi-level applications. This means that they could have customer stock trade information on top of real-time market information.
- Increased clarity and depth of field will assist any applications involving terrain mapping and any graphics simulation that may be appropriate for military or flight training.
- Video and amusement game playing is enhanced with pressure sensitivity and enhanced 3-D graphics.
- Presentations and demonstrations take on a whole new look and feel.
- Help screens and other windows can be easily overlaid without obscuring each other.
- Drag and drop functionality is enhanced. A light touch drags an object around the screen. A heavier touch drops it to the back of the screen and vice-versa.
