No Data When Touched
- Make sure the
touchmonitor is connected to the right COM port.
- A standard, straight-through serial cable is used,
with no gender-changing adapters
- DB9 male on one end, DB9 female on the other
- If any gender-changers are required, then the
monitor does not have a serial controller installed.
- If no
data on touch and the Hshk item indicates None, then either
the touchscreen controller is not getting power or it is not connected
to the right COM port.
- Unplug the
monitor's power cord for a few seconds to reset the controller, then try
comdump again
- Try restarting
comdump, specifying the other COM port (you
might have specified the wrong one).
- If you have a serial mouse (one that can
be connected to a 9 pin COM port), disconnect the touch cable from the COM port and connect the mouse in its place,
then move the mouse; data should scroll when the mouse is moved.
- If data scrolls when moving the mouse, then the
COM port is functioning; if not, the COM port has a problem (or you
have selected the wrong COM port).
- If a serial mouse produces data, try connecting
the mouse to the COM port through the touchscreen cable.
- If data now does not scroll when the mouse is
moved, the touchscreen cable has a problem.
- If data still does scroll when the mouse is moved,
the touchscreen or controller has a problem.
- If you have no
serial mouse (or no other means of generating serial data), but you have
been through all the steps here (including trying more than one COM port)
and the touch function still does not work, it is reasonable to assume
that the touchmonitor is in need of repair.
