Windows XP Serial Driver SW500813

Notes

  • The Windows XP serial driver does not support PC-Bus controllers or older serial controllers.

Installation

  • Unzip the file by double-clicking the sw500813.zip file in Windows Explorer.
  • Install the driver by double-clicking the SetupElo.exe file in the Elo WinXP Serial Driver folder; follow the dialog prompts.

Removal

  • In Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, select MonitorMouse for Windows 2000, then click the Change/Remove button

Information

  • Registry keys
  • Serial connection minimum requirements: Transmit, receive, DSR, CTS and  ground (DB9 pins 2, 3, 6, 8 and 5)
    • Can be reduced to receive and ground only if hardware handshaking is disabled (see next item)
  • Disabling hardware handshaking: Run regedit; drill down to HKEY_Local_Machine, System, CurrentControlSet, Services, EloTouchscreen; change the HardwareHandShaking key from 1 to 0; reboot.
    • (This allows the use of a 2 wire serial connection)
  • Setting permissions to allow non-administrators to calibrate: Same as for the Windows 2000 serial driver; see that section.
  • Enabling automatic logon (no keyboard required)

Troubleshooting

  • Click sounds on touch, but no cursor movement
    • If a mouse is not connected, connect a mouse, reboot and try again (mouse may be removed after touch drivers are installed)
    • Run regedit; drill down to HKey_Local_Machine, System, CurrentControlSet, Services, MMStub; change the Start key from 1 to 0; reboot.
  • Cursor moves but will not select
    • If a mouse is not connected, connect a mouse, reboot and try again
  • Calibration problems
    • Touchscreen must be the primary monitor. If multiple video cards are installed, the touchmonitor must be connected as the primary video monitor. If secondary Calibration screens come up for the other monitors, hit the ESC key for each. The Elo Windows 2000 driver supports only one touchscreen.
