Windows XP/Vista Universal Driver - Multiple Monitor Setup Problems

Multiple monitor setup in Windows XP

In a multiple monitor system, it is preferred that all monitors be configured to have independent resolution control (as in two monitors, each at 1024 x 786 resolution), rather than a single, large desktop (as in 2048 x 768). When the video can only be formatted as a single large desktop, the following workaround should solve any calibration and setup problems.

Configure the multiple video setup and confirm proper video operation. Make a note of the desktop resolution.

Create elovideo.txt:

  1. Open a blank document in a text editor (Wordpad, Notepad or similar).
  2. Type in the desktop resolution in the format X,Y.
    Example: 2048, 768
  3. Save As elovideo.txt in the \windows\system32 folder.
(Note: The windows folder may be named WINNT or something similar.)

Connect the touch cable for each monitor.

Install the touch driver.

When alignment runs, targets will be put up on each monitor, progressing from one to the next. If targets appear on a non-touch monitor, hit the ESC key on the keyboard to skip to the next monitor.
