Customer Display: Installing Drivers for Windows 2000/XPThe customer display connects through the USB hub in the monitor. The driver allows it to communicate with the computer as a serial device. The driver setup and installation require a choice of either of two device types: virtual COM port or device name (\\.\LCLD9). The POS application dictates which installation type to use:
There is also an optional true serial customer display that physically connects to a COM port. No driver is required for this device; it simply echoes any text that is sent to its COM port. WarningOnce the device is configured and installed as a virtual COM port connection, the USB cable should remain connected to the original USB port. If the cable is disconnected, it should be reconnected to the same USB port. If the cable is connected to another USB port, the New Hardware wizard will launch and the driver must be installed again; doing so will create a new, different COM port connection, and will require reconfiguration of the POS software to match the new COM port number. To avoid this side affect, either reconnect to the same USB port each time the cable is unplugged or perform the removal procedure below before connecting to a new USB port.
