RoHS/WEEEThe Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives, issued by the European Union, are aimed at reducing the hazardous materials content in electronic products as well as increasing the recycling efforts for these products and take effect July 1, 2006. Tyco Electronics maintains a RoHS Customer Support Center that offers the text of the directives, the corporate conversion strategy and timeline, and FAQs, as well as other technical data and explanations.
