Enclosure ConfigurationsDesktop
Desktop monitors typically have plastic enclosures, with aesthetics the primary concern since the monitor is completely exposed. The Elo desktop models are additionally "designed for touch," with important features such as a base which keeps the display stable when touched. (Compare with some desktop monitors integrated with touch which may wobble unacceptably, and not be properly re-approved with required agency certifications.) Other features found in Elo desktop monitors include a base removable or reversible for wall mounting, mounting holes on the base bottom for tabletop security, plus VESA mounting option, touchscreen sealing, OSD controls on the side with lock-out feature for public use, built-in speakers, flexible input/output connectivity including extra USB connections, and clean cable routing. Desktop configurations are preferred for point-of-sale, office automation, and many healthcare, medical, and some machine control applications. The Elo custom design group can produce desktop touchmonitors with custom colors and logos, as well as modifying a desktop design to meet additional certifications or regulatory requirements, especially for medical and industrial applications. It is not recommended to use desktop monitors within an enclosure, as desktop monitors can change frequently to keep up with design trends. A preferred solution is one of the chassis/open-frame monitor configurations shown below. Rear-Mount
Rear-mount monitors are normally metal, with ventilation slots for cooling, and are designed to be used within an outer enclosure, such as a kiosk. Elo rear-mount monitors include a "minibezel," typically made of plastic, which protects the touch components and provides a watertight seal. The outer cabinet opening typically matches and covers the monitor bezel, providing its own aesthetics. The Elo custom design group can produce rear-mount touchmonitors with custom metalwork, minibezels, and specialized agency certifications. Panel-Mount/Front-Mount
